Yellowstone National Park may be best known for its Old Faithful geyser and its stunning wildlife. However, the national park also sits on top a supervolcano that simmers just under the surface. You can see evidence of the volcano's active state in the park's famous hydrothermal activity, including Old Faithful, which shoots water every few hours. According to new research presented at the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior conference, it might take much less time for the supervolcano to go from not a problem to erupting than experts realized.
