on Friday, U.S. power firm Vistra Energy Corp said it would shut two coal-fired plants for economic reasons. The announcement came as closures in the industry continue despite environment regulator scott Pruitt saying he wanted to end the, quote, “war on coal.” Vistra’s subsidiary Luminant will close two Texas power plants. On Tuesday, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said he wanted to ease pressure on the coal industry by doing away with a package of rules put in place under President Barack Obama, known as the Clean Power Plan.
