Jane Goodall Asks Senators To Oppose Push for Arctic Drilling

On Tuesday, famed British primatologist Jane Goodall sent a letter to every senator urging them to oppose a push in Congress to allow oil drilling in Alaskaโ€™s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

In her letter, Goodall wrote, "If we violate the Arctic Refuge by extracting the oil beneath the land, this will have devastating impact for the Gwichโ€˜in people for they depend on the caribou herds to sustain their traditional way of life.

" The GOP-led Senate is reportedly trying to open up a region called '1002' on the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, an area inhabited by Gwichโ€˜in natives, caribou, polar bears and millions of birds..
