After sweeping changes to California’s rules for independent contractors were signed into law last fall under Assembly Bill 5, legislators on both sides of the aisle are looking at amendments. AB 5 largely limited who is eligible to work as a freelancer or independent contractor, and requires new portions of the workforce to be classified as employees.
