T-Mobile’s 5G Network Is Live. In the race to launch 5G, T-Mobile is the first major wireless carrier to claim nationwide coverage. . The network is live in select U.S. areas, though customers will not be able to use it until later this week. The new 5G network relies on a slower form of 5G that uses the company’s 600MHz spectrum rather than a faster form known as mmWave. In some places, 600 MHz 5G will be a lot faster than LTE.
