Apple TV+ Unveils Premiere Dates for ‘Defending Jacob,’ Home,’ ‘Trying’ and ‘Dear…’
Apple TV+ revealed the premiere dates for new series and docuseries “Home,” “Trying,” “Defending Jacob” and “Dear…” Sunday at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour.
The streaming service also announced that “Central Park,” an animated musical comedy from Loren Bouchard (“Bob’s Burgers”), Josh Gad and Nora Smith, will launch this summer.
“Central Park” is an animated musical comedy about the Tillermans, a family that lives in, and are the caretakers of, Central Park, according to its logline. Owen, the park manager, and Paige, his journalist wife, raise their kids Molly and Cole in the world’s most famous park, while fending off a hotel heiress Bitsy Brandenham and her long suffering assistant Helen, who would love nothing more than to turn the park into condos.
The “Central Park” voice cast includes Gad, Leslie Odom, Jr., Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Tituss Burgess, Daveed Diggs and Stanley Tucci. The series is written and executive produced by Bouchard and hails from Paramount Television Studios.

“Home,” which will be part of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival lineup, is set to debut on Apple TV+ on April 17.
The docuseries offers viewers a never-before-seen look inside the world’s most innovative homes, according to Apple. Each episode in the nine-episode first season unveils the boundary-pushing imagination of the visionaries who dared to dream and build them.
“Home” is executive produced by Joe Poulin, Matthew Weaver, Bruce Gersh, Ian Orefice, Doug Pray, Collin Orcutt, Matt Tyrnauer, Corey Reeser and Kim Rozenfeld. Nick Stern serves as co-executive producer, and the series hails from MediaWeaver, Four M Studios and Altimeter Films.

Apple’s “Trying,” its first original series from the UK, will premiere Friday, May 1 around the world.
In “Trying,” all Jason and Nikki want is a baby. But it’s the one thing they just can’t have.
Starring Rafe Spall and Esther Smith, “Trying” is a new comedy series about growing up, settling down and finding someone to love, per the SVOD platform. Imelda Staunton also stars. The series, featuring eight half-hour episodes, hails from BBC Studios and is written by Andy Wolton.

“Dear…”, a new, 10-episode documentary series executive produced by R.J. Cutler, will debut on June 5.
Inspired by Apple’s “Dear Apple” spots, “Dear…” biographies some of the most iconic figures in society today by using letters written by those whose lives have been changed through their work, the MacBook maker said. The series will profile Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Spike Lee, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Yara Shahidi, Stevie Wonder, Aly Raisman, Misty Copeland, Big Bird and more.
“Dear…” is executive produced by Cutler alongside Todd Lubin, Jay Peterson, Jane Cha and Lyle Gamm. Matador Content produces the series for Apple.

Finally, Apple TV+ will post the first three episodes of “Defending Jacob,” starring Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery, on Friday, April 24. New episodes will premiere each subsequent Friday.
Also starring, Jaeden Martell, Cherry Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Betty Gabriel and Sakina Jaffrey, “Defending Jacob” is a limited drama series that unfolds around a shocking crime that rocks a small Massachusetts town, and follows an assistant district attorney, who finds himself torn between his sworn duty to uphold justice and his unconditional love for his son, the logline reads.
“Defending Jacob” is produced by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content, and created, written and executive produced by Mark Bomback, who also serves as showrunner. The series is directed by Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum, who also serves as executive producer.
Evans also executive produces, alongside Rosalie Swedlin and Adam Shulman who executive produce for Anonymous Content.
