Democrats Warn Against Trump Administration Withdrawing From Open Skies Treaty
Four senior Democratic lawmakers think the Trump administration is considering withdrawing from a treaty. The Open Skies Treaty allows the U.S., Russia and other signatories to make unarmed surveillance flights over certain territory. Democrats argue leaving the treaty would benefit Russia and undermine confidence in the U.S.. Sens. Robert Menendez and Jack Reed and Reps. Elliot Engel and Adam Smith said it would be a “gift” to Putin.
