Apple Expected to Launch News Subscription Service

Apple Expected to Launch News Subscription Service Following the tech giant’s acquisition of Texture, a magazine app, Bloomberg reported that Apple plans to launch the service within the next year.

The service could generate revenue in a similar way to Apple’s $9.99 per month music offering, as well as Texture’s plan for the same price, which allowed users access to more than 200 magazines.

According to Bloomberg, a portion of the revenue generated by the subscriptions will go to magazine publishers.

Apple News today offers the ability to sell advertisements to participating publishers.

Apple used to have its Newsstand app, which offered digital versions of newspapers and magazines to users, but it was ended in favor of Apple News in 2015.
