According to Reuters, the U.S. Justice Department says it will appeal a federal judge’s approval of AT&T's $85.4 billion acquisition of Time Warner.

AT&T was previously sued by the Justice Department on antitrust grounds, but U.S. District Judge Richard Leon approved the deal last month, allowing it to move forward.

On Thursday, AT&T general counsel David McAtee said the company was “surprised” the Justice Department is appealing.
