Trump's top communication aide Bill Shine resigns

Less than one year on the job, President Trump’s top communication aide Bill Shine is out.

Shine’s resignation was announced Friday by White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders.

He was the 5th person to hold the job of Trump’s communications director.

Reuters correspondent Jim Oliphant: (SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) REUTERS CORRESPONDENT JAMES OLIPHANT SAYING: "Here’s the problem with the communications director job – Trump is his own director of communications.

He is the one who calls the shots in the White House in terms of its messaging strategy - and frankly there really isn’t much of a messaging strategy, it’s whatever the President feels like talking about on a given day.

As we’ve seen Trump is very quick to blame just about anybody he can for negative press coverage.

He blames the press on a regular basis, he considers the press to be biased against him, and he also blames the people in his orbit." Shine, a former Fox News executive, was named communications director in July, 14 months after he left the network amid allegations he failed to effectively deal with sexual misconduct at the channel.

Although not accused of harassment himself, Shine was named in a number of lawsuits.

He’s the latest top official to depart a White House administration that has seen unprecedented turnover.

Shine won’t leave Trump’s orbit entirely –he’ll serve as Senior Advisor to the President’s 2020 re-election campaign.
