Racial Bias Doesn’t Explain Manafort’s Sentence. It’s Unchecked Judges.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was sentenced 47 months.

Manafort’s sentence is getting criticism for being below the 19.5-24.6-year guidelines range.

According to Politico, the decision is a consequence of the discretion given to federal judges.

Judges are able to issue sentences without real fear of them being overturned.

The judge who gave Manafort his sentence could issue one anywhere between 0 to 80 years.
