White House: Secret Service Director Randolph Alles Is Out

The director of the Secret Service is out, according to the White House.

In a statement Monday, press secretary Sarah Sanders said Randolph Alles "has done a great job at the agency over the last two years, and the President is thankful for his over 40 years of service to the country." She didn't say if he was fired or if he chose to leave, but unnamed administration officials  reportedly told CNN  that President Trump told his acting chief of staff to fire Alles.  Sanders said Alles "will be leaving shortly." The news comes just a day after Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigned.

As DHS secretary, she helped oversee the Secret Service.

President Trump has picked James Murray, a longtime member of the Secret Service, to take over as director.

He starts next month.
