Trump on WikiLeaks... then and now

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Thursday, "I know nothing about WikiLeaks.

It's not my thing," despite a recorded history of referencing the group frequently throughout his campaign rallies, speeches and even presidential debates in 2016.

It's not my thing," and that he did not have an opinion about the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who faces the prospect of extradition to the United States over the publishing of secret official information.

On the campaign trail during the 2016 presidential election, Trump repeatedly praised WikiLeaks.

Shortly before the election, Trump said, "I love WikiLeaks," after it released a cache of hacked Democratic Party emails that harmed the candidacy of his opponent, Hillary Clinton.

That was one of several speeches in which mentioned Wikileaks in reference to the Clinton campaign.

Trump's Thursday comments came following the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Responding to reporters, Trump said, "I know nothing about WikiLeaks.

It's not my thing.

And I know there is something having to do with Julian Assange.

I've been seeing what's happened with Assange and that will be a determination, I would imagine, mostly by the Attorney General (referring to U.S. Attorney General William Barr) who is doing an excellent job.

So he'll be making a determination.

I know nothing really about him.

It's not my deal in life."
