Baker received the trophy for his performance in Maui last November - he also collected the Biggest Paddle award for this.

This was marked by Makua Rothman of the United States being awarded the Wipeout of the Year for his spectacular crash in Fiji last May.

Frenchwoman Justine Dupont took the best Overall Performance of the Year while Andrea Moller of Brazil was presented with an award for a newly-created world record in women's paddle-in surfing.

Moller set the record riding a 42-foot (12.8-metre) back in January 2016 in Maui, Hawaii.
