THIS is all that remains...after an explosion rocked a silicone plant in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan Friday night....just before 10 PM.

Officials said the blast killed at least one person.

Two others are still missing... But dangerous conditions have forced rescue teams to temporarily suspend the search.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) WAUKEGAN FIRE MARSHAL, STEVEN LENZI, SAYING: "We've had a bunch of different people evaluating due to the chemicals that were in the building and the structural instability.

It's been deemed unsafe for us to continue any sort of search." Local media reports identified the plant as AB Specialty Silicones.

Officials said nine employees were in the building at the time of the blast...and that four were hospitalized with injuries.

David Rettig, who works in a nearby plant, said he could feel the blast from his home some 20 miles away.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) WITNESS, DAVID RETTIG, SAYING: "I was sitting watching TV downstairs and heard the windows shake in the house and asked my wife 'did you feel that too?'" The cause of the explosion and fire is currently under investigation.
