U.S. Senators Criticize FTC For Not Punishing Facebook More

Reuters reports two U.S. senators on Monday criticized reported plans for a Federal Trade Commission settlement with Facebook regarding misuse of users' personal data.

In a letter to the FTC, Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal and Republican senator Josh Hawley told the agency that a $5 billion civil penalty is a β€œbargain for Facebook.” The agency is also reportedly considering elevating oversight of privacy policies to Facebook’s board of directors.
