>> tessa spencer: at least one person killed at a colorado school shooting yesterday.>> jon bruce: this morning we are in highlands with another deadly shooting in america and prompting the question of should more action be taken to limit weapon?
>> reporter: investigation just beginning after the chaos and questioning to students who they believe are responsible for the shooting.
They identified 118-year-old male who they say is an adult but not the other suspect who is a juvenile.
Both students went inside the school and deep in the school into two separate classrooms and began shooting.>> information on the shooting and getting reports of shots fired in the school.
>> reporter: all too familiar emergency call on tuesday.
>> shooter at room 107 and were trying to get a suspect and one person shot in lower back and 3 injured and school and not down.
>> reporter: officers rushing to stop the shooting at a school near denver and to gunman entered stem school highlands ranch at about 2:00 p.m.
And killing one student and injuring eight others.
Douglas sheriff deputies responded within two minutes of being alerted .
>> we struggled with the suspects to take them in custody.
They are now in custody.
>> reporter: both are believed to be students and parents rushed tothe school and waited anxiously to be reunited with children.
>> she said mom , i love you.
It's not a drill.
It's a real lockdown with a shooting.
>> reporter: the stem school is seven miles from columbine high school where 20 years ago 13 people were gunned down by two shooters.
One father says his family has been touched twice by these shootings.
>> i was in tears trying to figure out what's going on.
She had a cousin at columbine with a few years ago and that was quite a few years ago.
It is crazy.
You would not think that would happen again.
>> reporter: the stem school will be closed through the week.
The superintendent says counseling will be available for students who need it.
He tells parents it will be difficult to talk to their children and saying they may not find the words or explanations .
He suggests that parents hug children.
