A school security guard subdued the 18 year old male suspect?

The colorado school shooting is a scene that's becomill too familiar at schools across the country.

That's why many of them are trying to make a safer environment for students.

And the hoosier state is ahead of the curve.

Is to be proactive.

They tell me between building good communicatio n with parents?

And keeping law enforcement in every school?

They are confident in their safety procedures.

It a tragedy?

There have been two school shootings across the country within the last*wee?

Leaving some people on edge.

No place is safe?

That's why tr?

State administrator s are making safety a priority.

South gibson schools rely on trained safety specialists and law enforcement being present at all times.?we went to one resource officer in every building right after the sandy hook situation and they have just been a huge help?

The goal is to spare their schools from the tragedy of a school shooting.?the thing with most active shooters is that they want easy targets where they are not going to get resistance or the resistance isn going to come immediately?

They are prepared if danger strikes.

"we also work with the sheriff's office annually with multiple agencies on working on shooter drills, active shooter drills so we can be as prepared if we can be if that day ever comes."

School officials say sheriffs deputies aren't their only source of surveillance.

They say in a rural communit?

Everyone looks out for each other.

"see something, say something and that's what i think our parents are very good at."

"and it;s okay if you report something and you don't have all the details.

We'd rather still know about it and be able to be proactive rather than reactive."

School leaders want to remind everyone that no issue is too small to report.

Even if two students aren't getting along or you see someone wandering near a schoo?
