ROUGH CUT (no reporter narration) STORY: U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that she agreed with U.S. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler that the country was in a constitutional crisis and she added that President Trump was 'almost self-impeaching' by what she says his disrespect of the legitimate role of Congress.

Pelosi also said that President Trump thinks intervention by Russia in the 2016 election is "a laughing matter." Pelosi told reporters that, "it's appalling that this administration would not even pretend to want to protect our elections".

Pelosi's comments came a day after the committee voted to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt for defying a congressional subpoena to hand over the full unredacted report.

The Judiciary Committee is one of number of committees in the Democratic-controlled House that are investigating Trump and his administration on multiple fronts, including White House security clearances and Trump's personal and business dealings.

The House and Senate still are investigating Russian election meddling and possible obstruction of justice by Trump.
