Too Many Children Are Being Held Too Long In Overcrowded US Border Patrol Facilities

Around 1,000 migrant children crossing the border are being held in overcrowded U.S. Border Patrol facilities.

According to Business Insider, they are being held longer than the legal 72-hour time limit.

Unreleased government data shows that more than 250 children 12 or younger have been in custody for an average of six days.

Federal law states that unaccompanied minors must be transferred to more suitable accommodation.
