Duchess of Sussex guest edits British Vogue

The Duchess of Sussex has chosen to feature 15 women she considers "forces for change" on the cover of the September issue of British Vogue that she guest edited, Buckingham Palace said on Sunday (July 28).

The Duchess of Sussex has guest edited this issue of Vogue, putting female 'forces for change' on the front cover.

Meghan, who gave birth to her first child in May, has spent seven months working with British Vogue's Editor-in-chief.

In a statement, she said she sought to steer the focus of the September issue - usually the year's most read - to "the values, causes and people making impact in the world today." (SOUNDBITE) (English) SWEDISH TEENAGE CLIMATE ACTIVIST, GRETA THUNBERG, SAYING: "we are fighting for everyone's future, and we will not stop until we are done." Women who made the cut include teen activist Greta Thunberg and boxing star Ramla Ali.

New Zealand's leader Jacinda Ardern, and actor and activist Salma Hayek Pinault are also featured alongside Francesca Hayward, the Royal Ballet's principal dancer, and refugee-turned model Adut Akech.

Meghan said she hopes readers will feel as inspired as she does by the issue, which will also include a conversation between Meghan and Michelle Obama.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DUCHESS OF SUSSEX, MEGHAN, SAYING "I feel the embryonic kicking of feminism, (LAUGHTER) I love that." The 37-year-old, has long been vocal about women's causes.

She's the royal patron of Smart Works, a charity helping unemployed women.

The Vogue issue will hit the stands August 2nd.
