"I'm the least racist person anywhere in the world": Trump

President Trump on Tuesday renewed his attacks on black civil rights activist Reverend Al Sharpton and Representative Elijah Cummings on Tuesday as the feud continued between the men, after Trump on Twitter criticized Cummings and called his majority-black congressional district in Baltimore "a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess." "I'm the least racist person anywhere in the world": Trump

President Donald Trump on Tuesday continued his attacks on African American leaders Rev.

Al Sharpton and Rep.

Elijah Cummings, calling Sharpton a 'racist' and said Cummings should 'do oversight' of Baltimore.

"Baltimore has been very badly mishandled for many years.

As you know Congressman Cummings has been there for a long time.

He's had a very iron hand on it.

It's a corrupt city.

There's no question about it," Trump said.

"I think that Representative Cummings should take his oversight committee and start doing oversight on Baltimore.

He'd find out some real things." Trump's weekend remarks disparaging Cummings, a House of Representatives Democrat and a longtime civil rights champion, drew charges of racism from Democrats, an accusation Trump denied.

The Republican president earlier in July attacked four racial and ethnic minority Democratic congresswomen in remarks that Democrats and a number of Republicans also called racist.

On Monday, Trump again slammed Cummings and his majority-black congressional district in Baltimore over its high crime rate.

Cummings, a veteran legislator and chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, is leading a number of investigations into Trump and his administration, and has criticized the president's handling of migrants.

Sharpton, who has defended Cummings, and Trump have ties going back to their New York City circles, but Trump has balked at any close past relationship.
