Trump Asks Supreme Court For Asylum Crackdown Permission

Donald Trump’s administration has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to lift a court order.

The order prevents the government from fully stopping asylum applications by immigrants at the Mexico border.

U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar issued a nationwide injunction blocking the rule last month.

Reports Reuters.

The rule requires immigrants to first seek safe haven in a country they traveled through on their way to the US.

The rule, unveiled on July 15, would bar almost all immigrants from applying for asylum at the southern border.

It represents the latest effort by Trump’s administration to crack down on immigration.
