NASA Administrator Says Pluto Is A Planet

In 2006 the International Astronomical Union (IAU) caused distress when it declared that Pluto was no longer a planet.

At the time the IAU created a definition that said a planet must “clear the neighborhood around its orbit".

Astronomers said Pluto does not meet this criterion, therefore, the tiny space body lost its planetary status.

Now, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine has reignited the debate over Pluto’s status by coming out in favor of it being a planet.
