Daytona Beach Florida Police Chief Craig Capri said Monday, the man arrested in Palm Beach on murder charges is linked to 3 murders in Daytona Beach.

Florida law enforcement says they used DNA evidence to link the suspect, 37-year-old Robert Tyrone Hayes, to the murders in the two different locations.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff, DNA from a discard cigarette provided key evidence.

Chief Capri said the type of murders were similar, which lead to the suspect, there was a serial killer.

Hayes appeared in a Palm Beach County court mMonday on first degree murder charges in the 2016 death of Rachel Elizabeth Bey.

He's also wanted in Daytona Beach for three murders, one from 2005 and two from 2006.
