Sessions announces plans to stop DACA

Christina:now to washington- - where eight- hundred thousand undocumented immigrants-- known as "dreamers"-- have just leanred of a change in their status this morning.

As abc's emily rau shows us-- the trump administration is phasing out a policy that gave legal status to young immigrants-- brought into the u-s as children.

"sessions sot: "i'm here to announce the program known as daca, that was set under the obama administration is being rescinded."

The end of daca now on the horizon.

Sessions sot: "to have a lawful system of immigration that served the national interest, we cannot admit everyone who would like to come here.

It's just that simple."

Abc news reporter: should dreamers be worried?

Trump: we love dreamers.

We love everybody.

But just last week?

President trump saying he loves the so-called dreamers--- nearly 800 thousand young immigrants currently living in the u-s who came here as children.

Two administration officials telling abc news- new applications for legal status, filed after september 5th- will not be considered.

Some dreamers will be eligible for legal status for another two- plus years- but for others, that protection will be stripped as early as next march.
