Meanwhile, a mere 8.8mm of rain fall in Winton, Queensland, was enough to get some locals excited, according to Teonie Dwyer, who filmed video of people frolicking in the mud on Wednesday (January 15).
Several months of above average rainfall would be needed for Australia to recover from the recent drought, said Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, adding that the country would have to wait until March for rains to bring sustained relief from dry weather.
