The poll marks the first time Sanders' numbers have surpassed Biden in the bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

It shows that 27% of registered Democrat voters — and left-leaning independents — support Sanders.

Biden remains in the top tier with 24% of Democrat voter support.

With a 2% poll margin of error, neither candidate currently has a clear lead over the other.

The results are a 7 point improvement for Sanders since the Dec.

CNN poll.

The same poll shows that Biden, Sanders, Warren and Bloomberg are supported by registered voters significantly more than President Trump.
