People invested in helping the homeless are feeling a big loss this weekend... police say two homeless men in lexington froze to death within hours of each other friday...during one of the coldest mornings we've had all year... in our top story..abc 36's carmen lofton takes us to the catholic action center where people are remebering a members of its family... ### here at the catholic action center...we're a community..."

A community rocked by the sudden deaths of two of their own... ginny ramsey has dedicated her life to helping the homeless community in lexington.

She says everyone at the catholic action center was devastated when they heard about two men-- who had froze to death... to watch the air go out of the room friday... when folks learned about jay jay..and then to learn about robert..."

Friday morning police say they found 49 year old...jay jay... jerry johnson dead under an i-75 overpass.

Temperatures were in the teens overnight...but it felt colder in the single digits.

It diminshes the soul of the community to ever have one of our brothers and sisters left out inthe cold to die alone..."

Ramsey says she remembers working with one of the men at the community inn..

"there are people who care about him and we're people who cared about him."

Ramsey says everyone has a story and reasons for why they may not choose to come inside from the cold... she says plenty of people at the catholic action center know what it's like to have to put your pride aside.

"whether it's from mental illness, physical illness, whether it's age..whether it's ego...who knows!

We're all human beings... she says even with programs put in place throughout the city to help the homeless---they're not just statistics... "there's something greater that we need to all me doing.....and that's making people welcome.".

Homeless woman playing piano... her wish?...for society to have more compasion for people like jerry and robert.

They are children of god our brothers and sister and not just in word...but in action."
