Evening good evening and welcome to our valentine edition of in the paint.... so of our area teams loved their evenings and had great nights, others not so much... ok, sorry that was my only "love" comment referring to valentines day..... we see now why rick is a sportscaster and not a comedian...... as for the hoops action we did have tonight... we had a vigo county showdown between terre haute south and west vigo...barr-reeve, vincennes lincoln, north daviess and casey-westfield were looking to keep winning streaks alive... and two of the area's better teams squared off....as sullivan and marshalle met, we have a jam packed in the paint for you... neither terre haute south or west vigo have had the season they've wanted... right now both the braves and vikings are looking for any momentum they can get before sectionals tip off in a couple of weeks..... south hosted west vigo..... third quarter....sean roberts swishes the three....west vigo down 28-27...... end of the third quarter....sout h's ka-peel redding fires up a prayer from the corner and its answered.....redding had 15... south took a 40-34 lead to the fourth... west vigo ball down two....dane andrews with the lefty hook, its good...we're tied at 44 with just over a minute to go... time winding down.....braves cordell hanes drives baseline but his reverse is off the mark...we're going to overtime... in ot...hanes gives the braves a three-point led with the deep ball..... case lautenschlager answers with a three ball to tie things back up.... 1:05 to play.....dane andrews who had 20 for west vigo steps to the line and hits two to tie the game at 49..... game still tied when south's uh-mar-e-a wilson goes to the line at the other end...the sophomore hits both of his...braves up 51-49... west vigo ball....do they go for the tie or win....well we'll never know....vikings turn the ball over.... terre haute south hits two more free throws to ice it....braves win in ot 53-49.....south has now won 13 straight over west vigo... terre haute north had a conference indiana home game against bloomington north... daltom sturm catches baseline, turns and buries the jumper for terre haute north... nice two man game between mahki johnson and mark hankins.....johnson finds hankins for the deep two..... time winding down to end the first quarter.....matt gauer comes off the screen ready to shoot...he's good on the three from the top of the key..... good guys lead 7-6 after a quarter... second quarter bloomington north out and running....they reward their big man aaron steinfeldt who converts the layup.... bloomington north wins at terre haute north 60-49... second place in the blue chip conference was on the line between barr-reeve and south knox.... both teams entered tonight's contest with one conference loss.

Vikings lead big in the second quarter but the spartans won't go away.

Sophomore brennan robinson with a big three.

Then check out the ball movement, it's tipped out to robinson and he finds garrett holscher on the wing.

Holscher hesitates and then drills the three ball getting south knox within 13.

But out of the timeout barr reeve goes to work.

Inside out to keegan o neill for three.

Then it's devin graber with the old hockey assist, to the corner and it ends up in the hands of jacob wagler wide open.

As the vikings end up cruising to victory 57-36.

The vikings execute so well and tonight they knock off south knox by 21.

North daviess took their three-game winning streak on the road to north knox.

Warriors getting out in front early.

Holtman doades turns the corner down the lane and he'd bury the bonus to extend the lead.

But north daviess was just too physical in the paint tonight.

The good look inside to kirk wagler and the senior finishes at the rim.

Later in the quarter it looks like jaylen mullen is trapped.

Somehow he finds trevor riggins on the opposite block for the lay in.

The cougars make it four in a row tonight.

They go on the road and win by 10 45-35.

A win tonight against clay city would move north central above the five hundred mark.

1st qtr, tyler young comes up with the steal and heads the other way in a hurry for the t-birds lay in.

North central up by four.

Clay city looking for response as senior ethan rogers sneaks his way into the paint for the lay in.

Eels trail by two.

Final minute of the qtr, bryton suggs gets the steal, loses his shoe, who steals a shoe???

Suggs doesn't care he lays it in to extend his t-birds lead.

The senior finished with 13.

As north central hangs on to win this one 55-53.
