Netanyahu's corruption trial date set

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a man with multiple battles on his hands.

It's been confirmed his corruption trial will start on March 17, just two weeks after Israel holds its third national election in less than a year.

Netanyahu has denied any wrongdoing in three corruption cases against him.

Charges include bribery, breach of trust and fraud.

He's suspected of wrongfully accepting $264,000 worth of gifts, including cigars and champagne, from tycoons and of dispensing regulatory favors in alleged bids for improved coverage by a popular news website.

Netanyahu could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of bribery - and a maximum three-year term for fraud and breach of trust.

The 70-year-old has been in power for the past decade and is Israel's longest-serving leader.

But with an election and corruption trial looming, that reign could soon be over.
