Rescue operations of Thai aircraft crash terminated after it appears to only wildfire

Police have called off a search for a suspected crashed aircraft after reportedly finding nothing but burning grass.

Rescue teams who arrived at the site on a mountain in Rayong, eastern Thailand, said the flames appeared to be from a grass fire.

Military officials had previously said that witnesses had reported seeing a small aircraft crash followed by an explosion.

A Thai military spokesman said none of its aircraft had crashed.

U.S. officials who are currently preparing for a training event in the area said none of their aircraft had crashed.

Police said they would resume the search in the morning amid claims that a fire or explosive device could have been detonated deliberately.
