Dame Helen Mirren asks for a standing ovation from journalists in Berlin before collecting her Golden Bear award for lifetime achievement and declaring herself a European despite Brexit.

Dame Helen Mirren was honoured at the 70th Berlinale film festival on Thursday (February 27) with a special Golden Bear for lifetime achievement.

Mirren, 74, won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2007 for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in "The Queen" and has received several accolades during a career spanning five decades.

"He's very cute.

Think my Oscar's going to fall in love," Mirren said after receiving her Golden Bear in the German capital.

Applause broke out when the actress told the audience that she still considered herself a European, "with or without Brexit".

Earlier in the day, Mirren jokingly demanded a standing ovation from journalists at a news conference where she discussed her life and career.

As well as movie roles including "Gosford Park, "The Madness of King George" and more, Mirren has won praise and numerous awards for her turns on stage and on television.
