Steam breaks ‘concurrent user peak’ record

Steam breaks ‘concurrent user peak’ record The PC gaming platform previously had a record all-time player peak of appoximately 19 million concurrent users, which was reached just over a month ago, but Steam has already beaten this!

The popular gaming platform had over 20 million concurrent users over the weekend.

According to data on Steam’s website, it had a 24-hour peak of 20,313,451 users: with nearly 6.4 million of these users actively playing a game.

It’s suspected that this new milestone is due to the coronavirus outbreak.

With many people worldwide choosing to reduce how often they are in crowded public spaces, with some even choosing to self-isolate, in order to reduce their chances of contracting the virus, it seems gamers are choosing to pass the time by playing video games.
