Thai rescue workers smash concrete pipe to free trapped dog

Rescue workers smashed a drain pipe to free a dog who was stuck there for three days.

Concerned locals called the emergency services after hearing the exhausted pooch crying inside the drain pipe in Krabi, southern Thailand on Tuesday (March 17) afternoon.

They arrived at the scene found a black mongrel dog stuck 10ft deep inside a 2ft wide drain pipe.

They tried to reach the dog but it was stuck too deep.

They decided to dig through the ground above and smash their way through the concrete pipe to reach the pooch.

It took them more than two hours to reach the hungry dog.

The resident who contacted the rescue team said he had heard the dog whimpering for three days.

He said: "I heard him three days ago but did not think too much about it as I assumed it was just a normal dog that roams the area.

"Then on the third day I thought there might be something wrong so I looked for the source of the sound and then I noticed the dog was stuck deep in the drain." The pooch appeared to be healthy but he was taken to the vet to be checked over as he had stuck in the drain pipe for three days without any food or water.
