Also talked about a partnership between the state of kentucky and six other states.

Abc 36's amber freeman is live in the studio with more on that.

Governor beshear... along with the governors of michigan, ohio, wisconsin, minnesota, illinois and indiana.... sent out a joint announcement about the partnership earlier today.

The governors say they will coordinate on reopening their state economies but caution.... this doesn't the states will all reopen at once.

The governors say their number one priority is the health and safety of those living in their states.

They say they will work with experts and take a fact- based, data-driven approach to reopening the economy in a way that protects families from the spread of covid-19.

The governors say they will consider four factors in deciding when conditions are safe to relax coronavirus restrictions.

Those are: -- sustained control of the rate of new infections and hospitalizations.

-- enhanced ability to test and trace.

-- sufficient health care capacity to handle resurgence.

-- best practices for social distancing in the workplace.

What this makes sure is, these midwestern economies and many of our bordering states, that we are all in significant coordination to help us, not only make sure that we don't have an additional later spike, but also that one state's contacts don't come into another, something we've been trying to prevent for a while now.

Similar pacts like this were made earlier this week in the northeast and on the west coast.

All together, the 17 states covered by the three pacts are home to nearly half of the country's population.
