Wales 'happy to consider' boosting police powers to deter second home use

Wales's economy minister said the Welsh Government would be "more than happy to consider" offering police greater powers to deter people from using second homes during the coronavirus lockdown.

Ken Skates AM said it was "unacceptable" for people to apply for temporary residency in their second homes.

Mr Skates spoke after senior doctors wrote to Wales's First Minister, Mark Drakeford, calling for a ban on the use of second homes.

Mr Skates said: "If the police require additional powers to be able to enforce these regulations, we would be more than happy to consider them."
