VARIOUS OF SAWFISH IN WATER / COMMENTS FROM PERSON FILMING AND ANOTHER PERSON (CONTAINS PROFANITY) STORY: Michael Alvarez and a friend were on their way fishing on Sunday (May 3) when they spotted the most unusual fish swimming in the water.

It was a smalltooth sawfish which, despite its name, is actually one of the largest species of sawfish, reaching lengths of up to 25 feet (7.6 m; including the rostrum).

Alvarez, who posted the clips on his social media account, told Reuters the fish swam right up to the dock in Melbourne Beach in Florida.

And it wasn't alone.

"After the ten minutes of being still another fish of the same species appeared out of nowhere from behind us," Alvarez added.

His posting said he saw three.

Michelle Kerr from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told Reuters that what Alvarez filmed "appears to be an endangered smalltooth sawfish" but couldn't confirm as she had not seen it herself.
