A realistic animation of waves in South Korea's capital Seoul is making a pleasant diversion for those who are unable to travel amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Bringing the ocean to the city Location: Seoul, South Korea This 3D art installation uses a giant animation of waves to alleviate residents' travel blues (SOUNDBITE) (Korean) DIRECTOR OF MOTION DESIGN DIVISION AT ART TECHNOLOGY COMPANY D'STRICT WHICH CREATED ART INSTALLATION CALLED 'WAVE', CHOI YOO-JIN, SAYING: "'Wave' is a virtual wave art installation that was created using anamorphic technique, and it is shown on the biggest LED billboard in South Korea which is also four times the size of a basketball court.

The anamorphic technique is basically an optical illusion which maximizes depth and creates a sense of space, making it seem like there are real waves inside that space." The screen is over 17,500 sq ft and uses 8k resolution to make waves appear more realistic (SOUNDBITE) (Korean) 21-YEAR-OLD SOUTH KOREAN COLLEGE STUDENT, LIM HA-JIN, SAYING: "I heard about this on social media.

I feel like I'm in a gigantic aquarium right in the middle of Gangnam and it looks so real in person, like the water is going to overflow.

This is so cool."
