And more than 18-hundred deaths.

Fulton county has the highest amount of cases in the state, with 4 thousand 230.

Under the cares act... the county get more than a million dollars.

The money is for small businesses and other economic activities.

Macon-bibb economic community development ..

Collected a round of applications from businesses.

Some services that get money are meals on wheels, campus clubs, men about change, and family advancement ministries.

Commissioner elaine lucas says she's concerned... that more money isn't going to more agencies like homeless shelters.

"that's the frustration i have that it's not working enough for the folks rthat needs the services."

Homeless shelters and rapid rehousing programs will receive some money.

But commissioners are concerned that there's not enough.

Goodwill of middle georgia reopened its job connection career centers for in-person service.

There are nine center locations.

And they are open from 11 a.m.

To 5 p.m.

On week-days.

Staff members and job seekers will need to undergo daily health screenings, temperature checks and wear a mask.

The goodwill career centers offer free services and resources to 17-thousand people annually.

"this year who knows what the number are going to be when everybody all of a sudden stops getting that last unemployment check from the federal government and the gotta find more the just a box of food they are going to have to find a job so our job connections want to be ready to serve a new wave of unemployed people" walk-ins are welcome ... but appointments are encouraged.

Clean water for the residents of juliette may come later than expected.

Monroe county board of commissioners decided they would not allow water quality expert, dr. avner vengosh from duke university, to test local wells.

Dr. vengosh stated the results from the test would immediately be published for the public to see.

Commissioner eddie rowland says this made some residents uncomfortable.

They didn't necessarily want their private well information out in the public, and they've expressed that to me specifically.

They told me, if you take my information i want you to be able to protect it.

I have to promise to protect them and part of my protection is protecting their results on their well.

Rowland says commissioners are looking for a private company that would test the well water, and give results to the county instead of publishing them.

Psychiatric problems may appear in patients who have battled covid-19 -- according to a new study.

But researchers say those problems shouldn't persist -- mandy gaither has more details in today's health minute.

:00-:20 :52-1:23 delirium, confusion and agitation may be common in patients hospitalized with severe coronavirus infections, according to a study published in the journal lancet psychiatry.

But researchers say long-term psychiatric problems after battling covid-19 may not occur in the majority of patients, researchers looked at 72 different studies on two historical coronaviruses -- middle east respiratory syndrome -- or mers -- and severe acute respiratory syndrome -- or sars -- as well as current studies on covid-19 -- they found about a third of patients infected with sars or mers experienced post-traumatic stress disorder within about three years -- about 15-percent of such patients were diagnosed with depression within about two years -- and 15-percent were diagnosed with anxiety at the one-year point.

While there's no evidence common mental health illnesses will persist in patients -- researchers say doctors should watch out for signs of these disorders in the weeks and months following recovery from severe covid-19 infection.

The research team cautioned that many of the studies they reviewed were of "low or medium quality" -- and more data is needed on psychiatric symptoms associated with covid-19.

For today's health minute, i'm mandy gaither.
