Pm on june 23rd - to be counted.

An evansville woman is out on bond tonight-- facing a felony election fraud charge and tonight-- her attorney-- is vowing to fight the charge... it's likely been multiple-- decades--since a felony charge related to election fraud was filed in vanderburgh county-- 'it's not a very common charge vanderburgh county it's not one that you see come across the face felony daily charge email but we felt the charge fit based on the information that we were given."

Democratic party volunteer jan reed now facing the rare charge-- a level six-- the lowest level felony-- i reached out to her attorney-- mike keating-- who provided this statement to 44 news -- based on my recollection, the last time criminal charges were filed in vanderburgh county arising out of voting activity was 20-25 years ago.

This is not something you frequently run across.

Although it is early in the proceedings, i have serious doubts as to whether what jan reed is accused of doing is a violation of the criminal statutes related to voting.

It is her intention to defend against these charges.

According to the online arrest records this right here is jan reed's home although i already talked to her attorney today and got a statement and i'm going to go ahead and knock on the door see if she has anything to say the dogs making plenty of noise but no word yet tonight from reed the affidavit alleges the crime began in mid-april-- when reed allegedly began sending out applications for absentee ballots---- in indiana-- voter must ask for a republican or democratic ballot-- and make the choice by checking a box-- but according to prosecutors-- more than 300 of the pre-checked ballots mailed by reed--- came back to the election office....which had to notify all those voters they needed another ballot back at her home-- signs are obvious-- from this one encouraging people to vote-- another ones asking for prayer "you can't proceed with that kind of behavior and doesn't matter what title you hold it doesn't matter what kind of person you are and society if we feel that you did commit a crime then we are going to proceed with those findings that were sent down to our office."

Local democratic party leaders say reed was a volunteer who went rouge-- they asked her to stop sending out the pre- checked ballots-- but apparently she didn't listen-- she was also not affiliated with the election office reed is due to make her first court appearance a week from tomorrow-- june
