Throwback Thursday: Movie Star tip
Throwback Thursday: Movie Star tip

Five years ago, actor Jon Hamm gave a local waitress a bit tip after returning from Bonnaroo.

This story originally aired on June 18, 2015.

Hamm were in atlanta to shoot the movie "keeping up with the joneses."

But they decided to run up i-75 to check out the bonnaroo festival in tennessee.

On their way back, they stopped in chattanooga for a bite, and gave a local waitress a tip she'll never forget.

That's our thursday throwback.

Biscuits and an orange dreamsicle, in exchange for a vip bonnaroo wristband?

"this has to be the best tip you've ever had?

Um yea!"

That's what abby swarts got when she was working at tupelo honey sunday afternoon...and two big stars sat down in front of her.

"john hamm sat right over here and as i panned the group of them i saw zach galifianakis as well."

The two were traveling back from bonnaroo ...and were on their way back to atlanta to shoot a film.

And as if serving them wasn't exciting enough...the tip john hamm gave her topped the whole thing off.

"he stood up he was struggling to get the wristband off because it was pretty tight and he gave it to me and told me go to bonnaroo tonight this pass will get you anywhere you could possibly want to go."

Her only setback was that it was her and her boyfriends anniversary and she only had one wristband.

"my boyfriend gave me his blessing it's a once in a lifetime opportunity not just to go to bonnaroo but to have john hamm provide that for me."

"as long as hamm wasn't going with you..

Right" swarts said she had never been to bonnaroo but was ecstatic to make it for the last night.

"it was very john draper of him."

The entire time there...she had vip treatment, with free food and drinks and air conditioning and close access to several shows.

"i kept smiling to myself thinking...i'm the only one here that has john hamm's blessing."

But swarts says the best part was seeing the closing act...billy joel.

She got to stand in the scaffleding on the side of the stage.

"the crowd was huge and everyone was singing along you had people with their arms around each other" "my favorite billy joel song is moving out, so i put my phone on record and recorded it so i can always go back to that time and he was facing us at that time."
