Comedian Jon Stewart has taken "the redundancy of the political system" and turned it into a comedy with a twist with his new film, "Irresistible." This report produced by Yahaira Jacquez.

In 'Irresistible', a new political comedy by Jon Stewart, Steve Carell portrays a Democratic political strategist, who believes he's found the key to winning back the Heartland.

Carell: "General Jack Hastings is our key into the great - now swing state - of Wisconsin." A retired Marine colonel played by Chris Cooper, who stands up for the rights of his town's undocumented workers.

The political satire - is the second film written and directed by Stewart and marks the former Daily Show Host's return into the political fray.

Stewart: "The attempt here is to kind of not go directly at that thought, but to give you a bit of a Trojan horse.

To create a movie around those easy narratives that we create in the kind of media political landscape and then subvert it at the end so that we have a moment of - that you can kind of stand back and question.

Oh, right?

Why do we have a system where this is possible?" The movie follows Carell, who tries to work his magic on a mayoral race in a small Wisconsin town.

He ends up convincing the retired Marine colonel to run in the race, but the situation heats up when a Republican operative portrayed by Rose Byrne swoops in to run the rival campaign.

Byrne: "It's very unexpected.

It's not what you would maybe think from the outside of a Jon Stewart movie.

You know, everyone is made fun of.

Nobody is safe, Democrats or Republicans.

So, it's refreshing." The film will be released on June 26th on various at home streaming platforms.
