New information on the outbreak at a nursing home in limestone county.

The director of nursing at "senior rehab and recovery center" confirmed 23 residents and 9 employees tested positive for coronavirus.

The facility is located on hobbs street in athens... that's where we find waay 31's casey albritton with how employees are handling the outbreak.

The director of the facility says they've tested well over one hundred people at the facility-- and those who tested positive are being treated in a designated coronavirus unit in the building.

The director, wade menefee, says as soon as they learned someone tested positive, they started testing all staff and residents.

He says everything was prepared for an outbreak -- with a unit for patients ready to go.

The director says the national guard disinfected the facility back in april.

He tells us residents are being screened twice a day and employees are screened at the very start of each shift.

Officials say if those residents in the coronavirus unit continue to get worse, then families can decide whether or not to move them to a hospital.

The director tells us employees who tested positive are following c-d-c guidelines before returning to work.
