Police hunt American tourist who 'attacked pharmacist because medicine did not work'

This is the shocking moment a furious American customer slapped a pharmacist and accused him of selling ineffective medicine.

The shirtless thug, who is now being hunted by police, stormed into the shop on the Full Moon Party island of Koh Phangan in Surat Thani, southern Thailand, last Sunday afternoon (June 28).

CCTV shows how he grabbed the pharmacist's shirt collar, pulled him over the counter and slapped him.

The terrified assistant then handed a refund to the American who walked out of the shop.

Police visited the drug store and questioned the owner, who said the tourist had bought medicine a few days before but claimed it did not work.

Officers were told that the American's first name is 'Benjamin' and he had been flitting between different islands in the popular tourist region.

He is now believed to caught a boat and fled to the mainland.

Police Major Colonel Phuwadon Wiriyawarangkoon said: "From our investigation we found that the man had earlier attacked an owner of a rental motorcycle garage in Koh Samui then he came to Koh Phangan.

"We believe that his tourist visa has already expired so we are now tracking him down and will charge him before sending him back."
