Bangkok red light strip busy reopens as coronavirus lockdown ends

Footage shows the notorious street of adult bars and strip clubs known as Soi Cowboy in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 10.

The adult entertainment street in the Thai capital has re-opened again after the government chiefs ended Covid-19 coronavirus lockdown restrictions earlier this month.

Beer bars and topless dancing clubs - normally most popular with holidaymakers - can now operate while following social distancing and mask guidelines.

However, they are facing a difficult few months while tourist arrivals remain banned amid fears that opening borders could lead to a second wave of the pandemic within the country.

Thailand has not recorded any locally transmitted cases of the coronavirus for almost 50 days but the lucrative tourism industry has been decimated by the restrictions.
