Local media reported a gunman dressed as a FedEx delivery man opened fire at the New Jersey home of federal judge Esther Salas.

This report produced by Zachary Goelman.

An attack on the New Jersey home of federal judge Esther Salas on Sunday night left her 20-year-old son dead and her husband fighting for his life.

CBS News, citing law enforcement sources, said a gunman arrived at the front door dressed as a FedEx delivery worker.

He shot Salas' husband who answered the door, then shot and killed her son.

Sources told CBS Judge Salas was in the basement of the North Brunswick house at the time of the shooting and was not injured.

The gunman fled, according to local media.

The FBI said on Twitter it was investigating the incident.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy called the shooting "a senseless act."
