Today albertville city schools announced it pushed back the start of school for students returning to the traditional classroom.

Waay's sophia borrelli talked to one parent who called it a good idea.

Kindra sims, parent: "i think another week is fine because it just let's you know, your babies are safe."

Kindra sims is happy schools in albertville decided to push the start of school back - and giving parents the option to send children back into the classroom.

Wednesday morning - the albertville city schools board of education approved pushing the start of school back for students from august 17th to august 24th.

I reached out to the school superintendent to ask why the start of school was pushed back for students and i am waiting to hear back.

Students will still have a staggered start.

According to the school district's plan - different groups of students will attend on different days everyone will resume together august 27th.

Sims says she knows last minute changes can be tough on parents and admits she's fortunate her job let's her be flexible.

Kindra sims, parent: "honestly a week, it doesn't make a difference to me.

It gives me another week that i know they're safe and germ free."

New information... decatur city schools is hiring more employees ahead of the school year.

The school superintendent says they've hired more nurses, staff and companies to help clean school buildings.

The school district also created a new position.

The bilingual parent engagement specialist will work with the district's hispanic population -- which is around 30 percent of students!

The goal is to reduce problems they encountered in the spring during the virtual learning.
