This comes as activists in huntsville continue to demand the statue come down and be moved elsewhere -- legally or not.

Waay 31's will robinson-smith is live outside the courthouse -- where the statue was vandalized this morning - and a rally was held tonight.

He spoke with protesters and the alabama attorney general's office about the next steps.

Folks who were out here protesting say it's past time to protesters here say they need look to place like mobile that signed a memorandum of understanding with the attorney general's office before moving a statue there.

They say that would be the fastest way for the monument to be removed.
