Flash floods swamp homes after heavy rain in Thailand

Flash floods swept through homes in Thailand after heavy rain throughout the night.

Rescue teams rushed to help residents in Nakhon Nayok province and take them to evacuation centres after the water levels rose on September 15.

The evacuees were given hot meals and were allowed to sleep in temporary shelters with their families until the weather condition is better.

There were no reported injuries and the knee-high flood water eased the next morning so the people were allowed to return to their homes.

Some of the houses were damaged including the appliances inside when the water suddenly flooded the area.

Thailand's rainy season lasts from May to late September.

There are regular thunderstorms and heavy rain, which often leads to flash floods as the country's underdeveloped infrastructure struggles to cope with the deluge.
